I have DVR-Plus subscription through Directv. I lease the Directv DVR-Plus model R15. My goal is to either download my play list to my networked computer or burn my playlist to a dvd.

What are my directv-compatible options?

Some of the DirecTV Receivers have an option to record to an external VCR or DVD Recorder, but this particular model does not have this option, as it has an in-built hard drive to record and store the programs.

There are two options to transfer the recorded programs from the DVR onto a different media.

1. Use an external DVD burner drive.. There are plenty of them available in the market.. I would recommend using Sony VRDMC10 DVDirect Multi-Function DVD Recorder.
Check the below link for information on the DVD Recorder:

2. The second option is to connect the A/V (Composite) or S-video out of the DirecTV DVR to the A/V or S-video input of the Computer to transfer videos. Your computer should have an analog capture card installed. If it does not have one, then you can purchase the same from computer retailer near your area. This will be cheaper when compared to the first method. Once, the capture card is installed, you can use any analog video capture application, like Windows Movie Maker in case of Windows XP and Windows Vista or any other application compatible with the operating system to capture and store the incoming videos on the hard drive of the computer.

Please note that the transfer of recording is not possible if the programs have a copy-protection signal.
