We have a Canon iR5075 copier. For some reason I am unable to scan to any folder on our server using the servers host name in the path.

Example : \\server\scanfolder

I CAN however scan using the IP address of server: \\192.168.1.6\scanfolder

Here are some things I know.

- Using SMB to scan to server
- DNS settings are correct on copier network settings
- DNS server has correct IP with server host name
- I rebooted both server in question and copier
- can scan to other servers using host name without issue

Here are somethings you can try:
If have a domain network see if you can find the domain field in the machine and and enter the correct domain name. Ex: company.local
Then test to see if you can scan using \\server\scanfolder.
This should make the machine append the domain name to the server name and send the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) witch is "server.company.local" and maybe your DNS server can now solve that name.
If your machine does not have a domain field in the network configuration but has a workgropup field try to input the domain name there. Ex: company or company.local (try both)
Also you can try to put the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) in the path to the scan folder
Ex: \\server.company.local\scanfolder
or \\server@company.local\scanfolder (this one probably doesn't work, but when the problem is making the server accept the username for authentication, witch is not your case, putting user@company.local has worked for me in some cases)
or \\server/company.local\scanfolder (this one probably doesn't work)

Also,
Do you have a WINS server on the network?
if so, specify the WINS server on the network configuration of the machine.
It helps to solve the names

Also I have had situations in witch I had to specify the server name using the correct letter case
Ex: \\server\scanfolder
\\Server\scanfolder
\\SERVER\scanfolder (If it uses the the netBIOS name, it is always in Upper case, I think)

Try these sugestion and let us know how it goes.
