Adobe Reader 9.1 Keeps Installing itself

For some reason I have installed a custom package of adobe reader 9.1 but when i launch this program everytime it runs the windows installer and takes ages to launch. I cant figure whats causing this and its very annoying.

Any Ideas?

Hi

You need to disable the auto updater. Menu Help Check for updates let it run and then disable it from the preferences button.

I don't have 9 with me at present but this worked for 8... I will check later if there is a registry tweak too.

reg hack as follows, simply substitute the 8.0 with 9.0.

No sadly this did not work either! I can disable the automatic updates via update options or registry but it does not fix my issue.

Hm, I think I may have misunderstood.

The windows installer comes up when Windows is trying to reinstall something that may have been overwritten by your install or if is trying to install a add-on or new feature that it has been asked for by that program.

Is there any message as to what it is trying to install, or does it look for a source file that gives us a clue?

I suspect the custom package tries to install something on execute similar to the updater (hence my earlier post)

Worst case you may have to remove and install the 'normal' setup.
