We have a Sonicwall Pro 230 (very old I know) and we have enabled Windows Networking (NetBIOS) Broadcast Pass Through from the Lan -&gt; Wan and Wan -&gt; Lan in our VPN setup. &nbsp;We have a third party company (External) that does backups of our server using Retrospect 7.5.116. &nbsp;Since this modification it would seem that the backups have been failing (4 Days in a row. &nbsp;<br />

We are using a Windows 2003 Server with SP2 and on the Sonicwall the correct ports are enabled for the Retrospect backup to occur. &nbsp;The ports for the backup have not been modified and the backup has been working for quite some time. &nbsp;The only change to the network of any sorts is that Windows Networking (NetBIOS) Broadcast Pass Through has been enabled.<br />

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud). "Restore" in turn means the methods and processes involved in data recovery, i. e., bringing back copied computer data to their original location. Backup/Restore primarily serves as a means of protection against data loss, be it due to disaster, corruption or sabotage. It can also be used for recovering data from an earlier point in time and even for cloning machines or applications. There is a wide variety of backup/restore software available, from expensive commercial products to free or open source tools.

Storage Software

The Internet Protocol (IP) is the principal communications protocol in the Internet protocol suite for relaying datagrams across network boundaries, organized in abstraction layers, traditionally called "Link," "Internet," "Transport" and "Application”. Its routing function enables internetworking, and essentially establishes the Internet. IP defines packet structures that encapsulate the data to be delivered.
