MySQL, snapshot or materialized view

Hi: In Oracle, if one has long time consuming SQL, one could make a snapshot view or materialized view. That is to say, to generate a view every hour or a day to avoid real time large amount of database SQL manipulation. When user hits the link, the snapshot or materialized view would be fetched so that time is saved. I am wondering in mySQL, are there similar feature? Where is the link?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

there is no matching thing...  at least not for the "query rewrite" features... making some query to use automatically the mv instead of the table...
however, you can always create a table from a query on regular intervals, however any query should need to use that table explicitly
