deploying/installing xenapp client v 11

Hi,

I'm planning on upgrading the citrix client from v 9.150 to the latest on v 11. I repackaged the MSI to accommodate a silent install without user intervention. I also require that the xenapp plugin (previously program neighbourhood agent) to not be installed.

On some PCs the xenapp plugin is still installed even though the PCs previous citrix client does not have program neighbourhood agent installed.

How can I ensure that the xenapp plugin is not installed or even to uninstall if it was previously installed.

Regards,

This is a free tool that was just released.  It uninstalls every version of all Citrix clients before launching the new client install.  It's called UNICA:

mgcIT,

Out of curiosity is there any way to do it via gpo instead of logon script. Currently the installation takes place before the user logs in. With this uninstallation and installation will happen after the user logs in and I'm concerned that the user will try to use citrix in the meantime.

Also many PCs that uses shared windows logins uses program neighobourhood custom ica to access citrix. With this method will the settings disappear?

yes you can use a GPO.  Just setup a GPO to run a startup script instead and it will run when the machine boots.  you'll have to make sure the PCs are rebooted for this to work though.

I'd test it to be sure, but yes I think the settings will disappear if you uninstall the old ICA clients.

mgcIT,

I finally got around to testing this. Unfortunately I was quite surprised that it does not work, PNA (xenapp plugin) is still installed.

I also found this article that got me reading the admin guide for a command line installation.

This also does not work.

ps: FYI I have not tested if unica will remove PN's custom ica, although it most likely will
