A Cisco 7941 phone will not pick up or answer with the headset.

I have a Cisco 7941 phone that will not get a dial tone when you pick up the handset.  Is there a setting in the Call Manager that would cause this, or is there a hardware problem and the phone needs to be replaced?

Is it handset or headset or both?  If it is both, is the phone successfully registering with Call Manger and getting an IP?  If it is registering OK and you can not get a dial tone on handset or headset, then it is likely the phone.

It is only a handset.  It registers OK, and works OK with the speakerphone.  It just won't do anything when you pick up the handset.

If the phone registers as going off-hook when you lift the handset, I would swap the the handset with a know working handset and verify that it is in the correct port on the backside of the phone.  If it does not register as off-hook, then it is an issue with the phone, speifically the switch-hook.

The phone does not go off-hook when the handset is picked up.  It must be a hardware issue with the switch hook.
