Using the outlook Calendar as a front end to an SQL database

Does anybody know if the outlook calendar, or maybe the sharepoint equivalent could somehow be used as the front end to a scheduling program that would then send the data entered to an SQL Server.   I'm looking for an easy to use interface that our client could use from our ASP.Net web site to schedule individual appointments within a larger block of time.  For example a particular client might be assined a 4 hour block of time and we need them to access a calendar and give us 4 different patient names for each our.  Thanks

Would you consider buying third party controls? If yes then Developer Express and Infragistics etc have full suites of scheduling controls.
