What are the benefits in using a Linked Mailbox?

We don't have any in our environment currently but wanted to know what benefits do Linked Mailboxes provide?

We have 2 separate / trusted Forest.
We are migrating All AD Objects from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 but not in a bulk move.
We are doing a small test migration with our local IT and some Conference Rooms but these Conference Rooms will need to still be accessible to those not migrated.

Can Linked Mailboxes help with that or am I'm completely in left field about this?

Thanks

Linked mailboxes are mailboxes that are moved over from separate forests.

It doesn't really assist you much in what you're trying to do. But if you were to do a bulk move, the users with user accounts in the different forest would get a linked mailboxes, and the users in the same forest as the Exchange server would get User Mailboxes.

If you did the bulk move, it's something that happens automatically.
