Lotus Notes Out of Office Modification.

I am trying to modify the OOO agent (actually just the form) and while it is behaving as expected it isn't pretty as the OutOfOfficeProfile form doesn't like to be modified (or deleted it seems.)

I modified the form which resulted in very little change in the profile.  OK its a profile doc, so it probably has some stored stuff that is causing problems.  I write a little action to get rid of it.  So the new one comes up ... nothing in it.  So I change the part that says "I am gone from 4/7/09 to 4/8/09"  to somethng like "I am no longer with ABC Corp effective 4/7/09"  great ... but then I activate it and SOME but NOT ALL of the form goes back to "I am gone from 4/7/09 to 4/8/09".  But I ripped all that out.  Its all gone unless there is something in the actual agent that changes the form back.  However when the email goes out in response to an incoming email its ok.

Here is the real kicker.  Once it defaults to one day even though I ripped out all the return date stuff I don't want or need an return date because there isn't one.   ARRRGGGGGhhhh

And for 50 bonus pts when did all Lotus' code end up in the declarations?  Very non-modification freindly

I'm sorry i just read that and i am confused by it ... let me rephrase.

1 Modified OOO profile form.
2. Saw no change in most of the profile
3. Deleted profie.
4. created new profile based on modified form
5. activated agent.
6. Profile is now reverted to behavior prior to deletion which is some but not all changes took, some reverted from step 4 to step 2.
Now I cant set start date later than today because it gives me the error that start date must be before return date.

For 1 day email goes out as expected then terminates (that whole one day default thing)

i think that is clearer.

1-6 block the automatic design update to avoid the revert? It's a tricky agent, that is executed by the server, and it is changed a lot these last years. So it really depends on your version of Notes and Domino.

A tip: remove the profile, and rfeplicate with ALL replicas of your mail database. In most versions of Notes/Domino, the replication of profile documents more or less, well, er, sucks...

For the bonus: since LotusScript's classes are declarations. Suggestions have been made (see IdeaJam) to add a Classes-section to the designer.
Hey there Sjef, the version is 7.0.2  and there is only one replica.
The reason that I ask when the changes were made is since this is a modification for users that have left the organization, I am willing to go back to a mail template that is easier to mod.

I have deleted the profile but the profile acts so quirky.  The agent that runs puts the correct info in the email but you wouldn't know that looking at the profile doc.
Suggested way to get a correct profile document:
- remove profiles in both replicas
- create profile in replica A
- update/correct profile, and save
- replicate manually
- stick to modifying only the profile in replica A, always preceded and followed by a manual replication action

It might be 7.0.2. I remember having had similar issues with an application, and we had to add some (clever) coding to remove the old profile and create the new one. The client now runs 7.0.3, no problems since.
I'm sorry, my bad, by 1 replica I mean it exists only once.
Here's where I am,
I modified theform.
I got rid of the profile,
Opened Out Of Office... which creates a new blank form
input dates (seems impossible to do this without both dates so I set it far enough out)
Click enable.
The OOO email says the right thing ( I am no longer with ABCD effective 4/1/09... and then what ever else they put in the text area.
Problem still is that the form you fill out with the OOO stuff still says I am out of the office from 4/1/09 until 4/1/99.
Since the output is right and this is set up after the mail user is gone, as long as we know the behavior, my client doesn't really care about it so the billable time on it is over.  Guess I may never know why its fubar.

While it isn't an answer it made me laugh.
On a side note ... what do you know about DAOS?
Extremely little, the hearsay stuff: it is supposed to store attachments outside a database (the maximum is still 64Gb but its space will be put to use in a more effective way), there is a calculator somewhere to find out how much will be saved (although the total size of a database + attachments won't change), that attachments will be stored in a shared way, over database boundaries (but what will happen if one user decides to modify an attachment, and how attachments are replicated and stored I have yet to find out. Last but not least: how are the database backup utilities dealing with DAOS databases??

I have no hands-on experience with it, so all I can offer is my gut-feeling: new feature, to be tested thoroughly, may need some sub-releases to mature, don't use in company-critical applications right now.
I gotta find a box to run 8.5 on.  Doesn't have to be much to run either core 2k8 or linux but I have so many sitting around ...need more room.  But isn't that always the case.

As for DAOS I wonder if it goes back and strips out all the attachments?
Just get a decent VMware server on your laptop and install Linux on it. Brilliant stuff!

Two problems with that, you cant really leave it up all the time that way, and I am on my gimpy lappy ... the other needs a TINY chip soldered and I can't find someone to do it.  But for testing stuff its great.  My next laptop is gonna have 8 gigs of ram and hyperV on it.
Hmmm... a second-hand ProLiant then? Even the oldies perform rather well under Linux, for testing purposes of course. Won't cost you a bundle, say $500 - $1000.

8 gigs... hyperV... *droooooooool *
