I need to play AOM behind a Linksys WRT160N router

I need to play Age of Mythology the Titans expansion with my friends using Direct IP connection, however we are all behind Routers. When we connect to our modems all works fine since there is no longer a hardware firewall or NATs involved. I have tried adding my external IP to my LAN adapter but I am on DHCP so it does not allow me to do so. We have tried forwarding all the ports, and placing our routers on DMZ, but still nothing is working. using the OverrideAdress on the shortcut does not work either. Can someone please help with this issue?

Starting Point.... check the firewalls on both computer AND routers and make sure that the ports this program uses are opened to traffic both inbound and outbound.....   if this does not fix the problem, post a comment and we will look into it further.     You mentioned DMZ....   does this program direct connect to the other computer, or connect to a central server?

Yes as I mentioned we are using Direct IP connection so we connect to each others computer and there is no middle server involved. As I mentioned we have tried to place BOTH of your computers on DMZ and still no luck so port forwarding does not matter at this point.

I was not talking about port forwarding....      that involves the router sending the information to the right computer on the LAN,     what you need to check is the exceptions in the firewall and make sure that the firewalls are allowing traffic on whateer ports the software communicates on (sorry I am not familiar with that game and do not know the ports, but will try to find some info for you if you do not know them either)

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

theports that need to be open are as follows:
Initial UDP Connection
6073 Outbound for Joining 6073 Inbound for Hosting
Subsequent UDP Inbound 2300-2400 2300-2400
Subsequent UDP Outbound 2300-2400 2300-2400

you can also add exceptions for the program itself....directions are here.

Remember to set the DMZ back up on the router as well as configure your computers firewall to ensure the traffic gets through

also, how many computers are on the NATs?  if you have only the one, you could buy a seperate dsl or cable modem and connect your pc directly when playing the game, bypassing the router altogether

I know the ports, and When I used PFPortChecker to make sure they where forwarded and they where, still not luck, and again, the ports don't matter because i set my router to DMZ (traffic was flowing through and both me and my friend where pingable) and still no luck and both of our software firewalls and anti viruses where shut off.

and both me and my friend have 2 computers which is why we need the router, if not we would just connect to our modems and play (which DOES work).

I have also seen the above link and have done all it asks, but still nothing.

Why not assign a fixed IP address to your LAN card, rather than use DHCP?

because my IP is dynamic

So on your pc you have assigned a fixed IP address?

Your connection to the outside world is on a Dynamic IP: if that's the case then use a service like dyndns to make it possible for your system to be found, regardless of the IP address assigned to it.

I have comcast as my ISP, so I have a cable modem, my ISP doesn't change often, but it is still dynamic. I am not using any such service when my ip changes it still points to my modem, which then goes to my router and then my router ip, such as 192.168.1.XXX where XXX is anywhere from 100-149, this ip is also dynamic as sometimes my pc is 102, and sometimes its 100.

I don't understand why a fixed ip address cannot be setup on your pc - if it is sometimes 102, sometimes 100, then that is not going to help achieve a solution.  Go into Network Connections on your pc and assign an IP to this pc, make sure it is outside the DHCP range that the Router dishes out.  If necessary, narrow the range of the DHCP address pool.

I figured it out. I used game ranger to get my ip to show in the game, and then i had to turn off UAC (vista) or run as administrator in order for others to connect to me, or for me to connect to others. I hate vista =/ Well there it is, it works now =]
