Vb.net Split , string with numbers (1,000) creates aditional fields problem

HI,

Im trying to split a string that is coma delimited but also contains numbers formated as 1,000
this is then split into two fields when it should be just one. Is there anything that can be done about this ?

Yes, if there is a way of detecting the delimiting commas from the others (the ones given as an association to currency).  Perhaps there is a space or other patterns which can be of use.  See below for an example...

1,000, 2,000, Joe Miller, 4,000.99

You see the space the follows each delimiting comma reveals it.  If however there is no way to make the distinction, no pattern from which you can deduce the two, there is nothing to be done I'm afraid :)

Per chance you do find such a pattern, change the dilimiting commas to somthing else (a tilda ~ or pipe | will do) then use the split command on that.
