I have a domain with Windows Server 2008. Just I want someone to provide me with a complete vbscript to install FileFormatConvertor.exe on all laptops silently by using a startup GPO when users connect thier laptops to the network.

Any assistance is appreciated.

No need to use VBScript, as you can use native Group Policy software deployment to push the software.

Firstly, extract the MSI file from the FileFormatConverters.exe archive you downloaded. To do this, open a command prompt, change to the directory in which the EXE is stored and run the command FileFormatConverters /extract. Follow the procedure and extract to a folder on a network share.

Then, create a new Group Policy and push the MSI within the extracted folder through software deployment. http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Group-Policy-Deploy-Applications.html

On reboot, the converter will be installed on client machines.

Thanks alot, it was helpful to resolve such problems. But what if I have a file and this file does not contain msi format? That's why I am asking about a script to run exe files.
Thanks

There isn't one script which will run every EXE installation file out there. It depends on the EXE implementation and the integration routes provided by the developer.

For remote software deployment, it would be a good idea if you invested in a MSI packaging product. This enables you to take any form of installation package and re-package it as an MSI, which can be deployed via GPO.
