Access 2003 text box muxt exceed 255 characters

I have an Access 2003 form with a text box on it to capture comments. I changed the field in the DB to 255, and it allows 255 characters to be entered, but I need to be able to enter MORE than 255, more like 500 - 750 characters. What are my options?

change the field data type to Memo..
open table in design view
