Folders Security

Hi

I would like to set a folder on my server that I will share but I want the to users to be denied of Create Folders and delete folders and files. But I want them to be able to create files. I'm trying to set the security but I don't find the exact setting.

Can somebody help me please?

Thanks

Here is what you need to set - note that the "Users Who Can Place Files" category must have 2 SEPARATE entries, one for "Files only" and one for "This folder and subfolders":

Sharing Permissions:
Everyone>>>Change Control
"You">>>Full Control

Security Permissions:
System>>>Full Control
"Users Who Can Place Files">>>Files Only>>>
Create Files /Write Data

"Users Who Can Place Files">>>This Folder and Subfolders>>>
List folder / Read data
Read attributes
Read extended attributes
Create files / write data

"You">>>Full Control

Thanks

I did these but when I try to save files it doesn't let me. The file is empty.

Make sure that the user you are attempting to save the file as is a member of the group that has the rights of "Users Who Can Place Files" - make sure you are following the settings exactly too.  I know this works, I literally copied the settings I use for this exact purpose ;).

We're a school division, students have access to a folder on the server that they can place data into which teachers can retrieve the data from (ie, turn in assignments or exams or whatever).  Students save to the folder, and then the teacher who has full controll access to the files can then open them.  It definitely works ;).
