Try press f8 during startup before the winlogo comes up, and choose  "last configuration that worked"
if still not working try this:

After BIOS POST try and press f8, and select safe mode with command prompt.

Hi kskumaresan,

This error is quite specific.  The login process is failing because a program is corrupt, there is a hardware error, a backup image was restored to incompatible hardware, etc.

WizarWill first posted the link ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;156669 ) to the Microsoft writeup on the error.  See if any of the events described in the writeup are the likely culprit.

Good Luck,
Kent

If the files used to log into Windows are damaged, safe mode won't help.

Check that article and see if any of the described events fit you.  If you can find the cause, it may help to determine the correct course of action.
