I am having problems with Entourage 2008 on a MAC. I am not able to successfully synchronize email Inbox, contacts, etc (to my workplace Exchange 2003 Server via our OWA https exchange server site address + DAV). In the Calendar however, I can create and read items already created. If I create other kinds of new items in Entourage, there are synchronization problems with the Exchange server. I'm not using IMAP or POP3. I can send mail just fine so I know it's connecting.  I've also tried clearing the cache and configuring the Entourage client numerous ways as suggested in forums across the Internet. Still, nothing in the Inbox or Contacts.

The error message in Entourage is "Could not synchronize record - Error 18500".

The Exchange server is version 2003, SP2, all current patches, and functioning OWA for years with mobile devices etc working fine.

Entourage v 12.1.5 (081119)
I've tried it on two different Macs, Leopard and Tiger OSX, same result.

I'm wondering if there is a Microsoft Exchange 2003 patch or setting that could be causing the problem.  Has anyone else had experience with this?

By the way, there are three different version of Entourage 2008, one of which (the one that comes with the Home and Student Edition of Office) does not have Exchange support. Make sure your version had Exchange Support.

Good point, we actually got the media from our Enterprise Agreement though.  According to the MS download page:

Programs Included
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage, Microsoft Server Exchange Support, Automator Actions for Workflows in Microsoft Office

If you got it through your Enterprise Agreement, it should work. All I can suggest is to search the links I posted earlier.

Also open Disk Utility on the Mac and run Repair Permissions. Then rebuild the Entourage database.

Solved our own problem:

We noticed event 9667 in our Exchange server's event log.  Basically it's a quota limit on the Exchange database.  We moved the account to a different Exchange database and Entourage 2008 worked as it should.

Thanks!

There is a easy way to fix this problem There is a Reg key on the mail server in "Hkey_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/MSExhangeIS/your server name\Private-yourkey\NonMAPI Names Props Quota" which by default is set to 8192 I changed this to 16000 and it fixed my problems. The reg keys in the microsoft article had no effect on the problem with the error caused by Entourage. Once you change this key Dismount and remount the mail store.
