In this access-list what does the "77" mean: access-list 101 deny 77 any any

77 is the protocol type being blocked by the ACL. Usually an ACL will list either TCP, UDP or IP but you can also specify other protocols by number. 77 represents Sun ND.

This is a common ACL entry for a DOS vulnerability found in cisco IOS back in 2003 or so. Check out this link for more information on the IOS DOS attack.
