We're tying to push software to an XP machine. During install they receive error code  0x80040707 and messages Internal Failure X Severe  The selected locale is not supported.
The software has successfully installed on hundreds of other XP machines. Does anyone know the resolution to this problem?

try this:
1. Go to the directory that holds the file for launching the installation (for example, Setup.exe).

2. Right-click on the installation file and select Run As.

3. Uncheck the box that says Protect My Computer And Data From Unauthorized Activity, and click OK.

The application is launched from a server using a software management system. It has successfuly been installed on hundreds of XP Professional machines. This is the first time we've received this error, so it must be something unique to this computer.

We're going to try that option. Unfortunately we just learned the user is out until Tuesday.

The error was due to a faulty installation of a VPN client completely unrelated to the software we were trying to push. There was an open scheduled task that attempted to complete the installation of the VPN client each time the user logged in, causing the error. Once we disabled the scheduled task the errors went away. Our software installed and ran without incident after that. The VPN software issue has been referred to another team to resolve.
