I  recently purchased the Netscreen 5gt device off of ebay. I had no prior experience with the device before this. My ? is. I recently opened up some service ports IE: smtp =25 ftp 21. Anyway, when I run a port scan from the internet (audit my pc), the ports show up as open. Is this normal? Should these open ports be visible? I used to have the Watchguard soho 6 with same ports open, and the ports would never show up during the scan. I just want to make sure I have this configured correctly.

Yes, that is "normal", as long as you opened that ports for "Untrust to Trust", and the ports are forwarded to corresponding services in your network.
