Duplicate reminders, duplicate sent

Recently my Reminders list is displaying duplicate reminders.  Also, when I Send a single message the sending display shows "sending 2 of 2".

The Task Manager/Processes shows only on OUTLOOK.ESE *32.

There is only one calendar but I have two Personal Folders.  One marked From Toshiba has none of the e-mails I posted in the Outlook3 Pers folder.

What can I do to stop this duplication?

* Detach any PST files that you have with the mailbox

* Manually remove the duplicate entries from calendars.

* Once done then without connecting the PST files, try to send email and check if you sending multiple copies.

* You could also create a new Outlook profile and test sending email without connecting any PST files

* Do you have any antivirus installed on the machine, if yes configure it to exclude scanning outgoing emails from outlook. You might also test by disabling the AV for a while

Thanks for those suggestions.  Let me check them out to see if they solve the problem.

There do not appear to be any duplicate entries in my calendar; and I only appear to have one.

I just sent myself an e-mail and got (2 of 2), but I only got one e-mail.

I am a little nervous about messing with profiles; they kind of baffle me, but I just installed "ABF Outlook Backup V3" so I will do a backup and start messing around.

The Dup contacts link will come in handy as I am trying to synchronize my contacts.  I've moved from a laptop to a desktop recently and migrating has been a nightmare. I'm sure this issue was caused by something I did in the process.

As to your second post.  Outlook says it's sending duplicate copies (2 of 2) in the case on my last e-mail to myself; but it only actually sends one.  I checked and there is only one copy of that message in the Sent folder.

I'll be in touch; the points are yours, when the issue resolves.

I just reset this one "appointment", that was on my calendar, to the current time and waited for it to pop up. I did, and this was the result.

Then I added a new appointment, which was not on my calendar, and set it to go off in 15 minutes.  I produced the same result; duplicate reminders.

Note: when I delete one of the duplicated items, they are both cleared; not just the one highlighted.  That seems to indicate that they are not two separate items, duplicated in two different places.

Ok, on the nonsense text issue.  I have posted from IE and it doesn't appear.  I am in FireFox now, so I want to see if it happens again.

btw I've posted a question in the FF area about this.

* Ok now coming to your queries, it seems you have done quite a lot of investigations. Looking at all the symptoms now, possibly, i could think of 2 more things here.

* One as said earlier, a quite probable, corrupt OL profile case

* 2nd, a blind guess, have you set any rules in your mailbox to redirect all the incoming messages and calendar items to the PST files?? OR have you set the default delivery location for the mailbox to the PST (this ones doubtful since i can see the mailbox pic)

Hi Rudram

I can relate; to the busy thing.  I have been working on a project that has been taking up 90% of my time so haven't been able to work out your suggestion.

I appreciate your them and I will try to get to them this week, now that the dust has settled.
Off hand, I mean, I haven't actively set any rules like that.  So  I would say the answer to the 2nd is no.

Finally!  I have reviewed your suggestions; here are my findings.

* Detach any PST files that you have with the mailbox
I now have only one PST; the one with the Home icon on it.  I also have an Archive Folders.
I also have only one Calendar and on calendar archive folder.  The latter is not checked.
It appears that I am no longer getting duplicate reminders

How do I not connect a PST file?
When I Send I still see "2 of 2", when there is only one message in the Out folder.

I sent the message to myself and only got one and my Send folder shows only one message sent.

I use Avanquest System Suite with only one e-mail protection option; on or off.  But you may be on to something.  When it's off I get "2 of 3" when it's on I get "2 of 2".

You might also test by disabling the AV for a while
When I disable all protections I get the "2 of 3" response.

There are some compatibility issues with SS and the 64-bit OS but it's Virus protection is updated every hour and appears to be working.  I'd hate to shut it down since I don't think Vista comes with Virus protection

btw Should I require logon using SPA?

* what i meant by not connecting any PST or Archive files is, when you recreate a new OL profile, it would in the begining only show the mailbox and nothing else.


* And then the archived files or pst files would be later added to the mailbox manually (that is  what i mean by connecting or not connecting the pst file)

* and hopefully i believe that you have your mailbox created on an Exchange server?

What is an OL file and how do I create a new one?

Frankly, it makes me very nervous to mess around like this. I'm afraid of making matters worse.

There must be a logical explanation for what's happening here.  

I still suspect this has something to do with my 2 accounts; although I've had 2 a accounts for a long time and this problem is new.  

bottom line: I'm looking for a well thought out, rational solution, not trial and error efforts.

Jeez!!! missed again (-_-)

* An Outlook profile (OL profile) is in simple terms the outlook mailbox that you see when you launch OL.

* Now when we talk about profile, it means your mailbox. If we say OL profile of USER2, then that would be USER2's mailbox.

* Since as quoted earlier an new profile should rectify this problem, you could follow the below links for assistance.

* Having 2 accounts wouldn't pose such a problem.
