printing in ubuntu
Hi,
just wanted to know how to set up printing in ubuntu. I actually went through the steps but keep getting printer sharing access denied so when i went to the network places area and saw the name of my windows workgroup, i tried to open it but nothing comes up. When i went to do the printer setup however it finds sharename of printer under the pc and workgroup name. Is there an initial setup i'm missing to enable windows network access? I've disabled all windows firewalls as well. thanks.

Are you sure my question for more information is correct answer?
We can keep discussion open if you want to fix NMB browsing, but otherwise you solved without any help.

Well, i would actually like confirmation to know if browsing uisng nautilius is not working in ubuntu, otherwise would still like to award you the points since it was still helpful and you have helped me before in great detail and appreciate it. Let me know if installing samba client was necessary in enabling mapping or was it really because i used ip address instead of workgroup. thanks. i usually make one change at a time in troubleshooting but this time did 2 at once so not sure if ip address would have worked if i did not install samba client.

what is nmbd? If i had not installed samba client, are you saying i would not have been able to map from ubuntu to windows share even using ip address? Just a bit confused as to which direction i need the samba client whether mapping from windows to ubuntu or other way around? thanks.

Another way is to use CUPS as IPP endpoint
