Need a reputable US VPN or proxy for overseas use

I'm posted overseas, but would love to find a way to access the 'instant view' feature of my Netflix account, or watch full TV episodes that are posted online by the major networks. But everytime I try, I get a message that I can't use these services with a foreign IP. Can someone recommend a legit US VPN service. I'm not trying to pirate anything. I just would like the same access I'd enjoy if I were still Stateside.  I see all kinds of ads for free VPNs, proxies and anonymous proxy services. But they seem kind of fishy. Couldn't a lot of those services be phishing exercises designed to steal passwords, etc? Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated. Thx.

Try AnchorFree's Hotspot Shield: http://www.hotspotshield.com/

It is legit and by no means fishy. And it is free for 10 GB traffic a month.
