USB DVD Boot Option for HP Proliant DL320 G2

I have a DL320 G2, updated with the latest BIOS available (sept 2004).  This server has the CD\Floppy combo drive installed.  The BIOS doesn't have a USB boot option to select, although this server has 2 USB ports.

I would like to install Linux.  I have a DVD disk I would prefer to use instead of creating multiple CD's.  I have a external DVD USB drive available.  Does anyone know a way to make this server boot from an external DVD drive?

If you had the option to boot from a USB drive, your first choice should be to make a bootable USB flash disk. This makes installing incredibly quick.
Your problem looks like booting from any USB device isn't a possibility. Why not open the box and replace the CD player with a dvd drive. You can get an optical DVD drive for literally under 10 bucks.
