Help - PC/Laptop cannot read my External HD
Hello Experts,
i have been using my external Hard drive Samsung HM160JC for quite a while now and just recently, 2 days ago my PC and Laptop is not being able to detect this anymore. The errors i have seen is smilar to the error of inserting a USB1.0 version to a USB 2.0 verson with that scissoe like animation on the tray icon.
Also, the last thing i rememerred that i have trasferred data to my mobile HDD was transfeering around 2GB of picture data from my Canon camera using my laptop IBM Thinkpad T42 Windows XP.
I tried again this morning and borrow the USB cable from a friend who has another mobile HDD but no activty this time, not even the first error i have encountered "usb error".
I asked my friend to try it on his laptop and i was surprised that althought there was no Autoplay that was displayed....we can see the animation on the tray icon in that the system is installing the new device....however..i find it strange that there was a notification that the laptop needs to be rebotted before the installation will be complete. We didn't try to reboot his laptop and jsut remove the hard drive. But when he tried to click on the icon"safely remove hardware" the usB mobile device is not registered there so we jsut pull out the cable...
Can someone help me as i have many important files on thie mobile HDD. i really appreacite your help in advance. Thanks.

It is MUCH more likely to be the enclosure than the drive. Nobus' advice is good; if you don't have a spare sata or ide port in your machine, you could try putting the drive in another USB enclosure.
