Exchange 2007 Backup Fails on Backup Exec 11d

I have an exchange 2007 server that has been backed up perfectly over the last 1.5 years with Backup Exec 11d. Everything is configured correctly as far as I can tell.

As of last week I am getting this error message whenever I run a job.

Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000031b - Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 supports snapshot technology for entire storage groups only. Snapshots of individual
databases are not supported. Update the backup job and try again.
Final error category: Resource Errors

I follow the instructions on the Symantec support site, they suggest turning off AOFO on my backup job. However I do not currently run AOFO on my backup jobs.

Any suggestions?

Hi,
Check the following list and check the state of Microsoft Exchange Writer, it should be "stable". If you find it stable then you need to talk with Symantec

yes, I've checked that and i see no issues in the logs and my vss writer is
Writer name: 'Microsoft Exchange Writer'
   Writer Id: {76fe1ac4-15f7-4bcd-987e-8e1acb462fb7}
   Writer Instance Id: {408752b4-d74a-47fc-9d0d-ea4b97e9c0c7}
   State: [1] Stable
   Last error: No error

Hi,
One more thing I hope that you don't have VSS tracing enabled as that can also cause the VSS backup to fail
Check the following links:

If you want these debug file to get analyzed you might need to get in touch with MS PSS or best involve your Symantec Vendor

Another interesting note

Nothing changed on the server to cause this to stop working.

NTBACKUP work perfectly fine.
