SQL Server Management Studio

I have had Sql Server Management Studio installed for three years.  No problems till now.  I cannot open a query window on any server.  The bar that shows the open queries appears to be unable to paint.  I get a message that there are not enough resources to complete this application. I am on HP with XP pro.

I have already cleaned the registry.  I have no viruses and I have re-installed three times.

I tried it again and the message is getting shorter.  I have to kill the program with Task  Manager.  The screen is a total mess by then.  This is the only program that I am currently having a proplem with -- Visual Studio still seems ok (knock on wood).

It now says :   Not enough storage is available to process this

I have also seen waiting for an internal operation to complete
