Opening Attachments in outlook 2007 slow
Hello,
I have a user that when they open up any attachment in outlook it MIGHT take 20-30 seconds, after they open it one time they can open up the next few attachments without any issue what so ever. He is running XP, with Outlook 2007 SP1 in cached mode I have tried disabling all the add-ons, clearing the cache. But to no avail. I am putting a 500 point value on this because he is going to be leaving the office after today.

can you try Tools -> Trust Center -> Attachment Handling and turned off attachment preview.
Hello Kevingray,
The Outlook folder where attachment opens may be full. Clear the files from Outlook cache folder OLKxx. This folder is difficult to access. Here is a way to access the folder and files
http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2003/20030828.htm
In Vista, the Secure Temp folder is located at C:\Users\username\AppData\ Local\Micr osoft\Wind ows\Tempor ary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\xxxx xxxx
Outlook Temp Cleaner to find and clean OLK folder
http://www.howto-outlook.com/products/outlooktempcleaner.htm
OR
Batch file to clean OLK folder

Hope this helps!

Disable cache mode in Exchange. Cache mode does slow down processes.

War1,
that is not an option, the user likes the ability to be able to work in email without having a connection.
Flyingsky,
i will give that a try and see what it does.

I have cleared the temp folder using the tool mentioned and am using Vista, so I can't figure out how to access my DDE settings as mentioned in a blog post link. I am still having issues with slow .DOC and .XLS attachments (Outlook 2007). This started recently, and the only think I have installed that is still on my machine is Dell Video Chat.
I noticed this problem only after installing Office Service Pack 2, though I don't know if that is the cause or coincidence.
