Is there anyway I can be notified if the backup is completed or not?
I mean in server 2003 I used to email myself the log file, but with server 2008 there must somthing similar to that?
I am using the wbadmin start backup command

Windows Server Backup doesn't have an email notification feature. Plus, unfortunately, due to the awful nature of the Windows Server Backup tool, you cannot even use some scripting to query the event log and see if the backup is successful - because such information is not logged there.

My suggestion would be to use a third-party tool - such as Backup Exec. This would also allow you to create more advanced backup routines, backup reports and also backup remote systems, too.

Thank you for your quick response, I am a big fan of robocopy and I was so close to switch back to windows server 2003 because of the awful server 2008 backup tools.
Anyway, I just wanted to confirm that *Maybe* someone was able to come up with a solution without the need to go and spend extra $$$ for something that should've been there in the first place!
