Hi  Experts

I have my Transport Dumpster Setting - Maximum Retention Time to 1 Day.
But our Management wants it to be just 2 Hours.

Is there a way to change it to 2 Hours instead ?

Also, is there a manual way to control it. I mean can i manually specify when I want the Dumpster to kick in or not ?

Thanks & Regards

okay so assuming you have an Exchange 2007 CCR cluster.  from what I know there is no way to flush the dumpster, it is there to aid when a lossy CCR failover occurs.  When it does arequest will be made to the Hub Transport server to redeliver the lost mail. Thats it, nothing more sinister.

So set the value to two hours use the set-transportconfig cmdlet.

Open the Exchange Management Shell and run
Get-TransportConfig
-This will dump your current confg

Then run
Set-TransportConfig -MaxDumpsterTime 00.02:00:00
- that will set it to 2 hrs
