Internet connection sharing in vista

How do I enable internet connection sharing in vista programmatically?
I try enable it using ICS API's and if I look at network connections it shows like the connection is shared, but it does not work until I go to properties/sharing and then click OK. It seems like vista is not aware of the fact that the connection is shared until then.
