how can i mount ntfs partition in linux

i have installed RHEL5.2 Server, i want to mount my external hard drive having partition type of ntfs. HOW can i mount it.

Basic command is

mount /dev/hdx1 /media/windows/ -t ntfs

mount -t ntfs /dev/hda  /media/windows

here you are trying to mount /dev/hda ( your external hardrive)

to

/media/windows directory

but your kernel will have to ntfs support, other wise you will have to install linux-ntfs drive , have a look this one

Hi just add

if you installl ntfs-3g you can mount like this

mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/hdc2 /windows
