How to display entire web page at once via preloader?

I'm looking to create a page loading effect on my homepage similar to that of IGN.com (http://www.IGN.com) using javascript or ajax or something along those lines.  On IGN's site, an initial full screen image is displayed for about 2 seconds (I'm assuming while the graphics of their page are loading).  After that, they display their entire site.

Any idea how I could do this?  Display a full screen image until the graphics of the entire site are loaded?

thanks.

you have to use Adobe Flash or Macromedia Acrobat.  I know it's one of those programs that you use flash to create a page and then when the real website loads, it switches to that.  a friend of mine did it and it worked good.  you can try using this website, im not sure if its the same thing or not.

this will help you if you just want normal xhtml and js based preloader.
