Is this SSRS 2005?  If so, you can use the web services that are installed in the virtual directory to execute reports to various formats.

I'm not sure how it is done with SSRS 2008 as they have removed the dependancy on IIS, so may have removed  the web service support.....

This is what I'm trying to do...

I have a report that i need user/database interaction with.  i want the user to decide when to send out the batch of reports, not a specific schedule (as with subscriptions).

ie. threw sql server is there a way i can store all information in a table and then have the user execute a job which will go threw the table, for each record, generate the pdf report based on the parameters set in the table and send an email with the generated pdf file (based on an email address, which is also stored in the row).

i could do it in asp.net but i really don't understand this web services stuff and am having a hard time getting started with it.  my sqlserver and web ap are on two separate machines so i don't see how to have the web service link to another machine without hard coding the machine name.  also, i can't seem to get my head around how to add a web reference to the web service.

I AM LOST!!!!

Thanks in advance.

This may be of interest, though it uses the web service approach.

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/reporting-services/ssrs_pdf.aspx

There may be a way of hacking the Reporting Services database (it has its own DB too) to get it to run a report, but I wouldn't recommend it.  Who knows what it really does under the hood?  Web services is the best approach here as it encapsulates what SSRS is doing.
