You'll need to request a new network license file.

If you are on subscription, the new network license file should replace the existing network license file. This is because the new file, automatically should include licenses for the three prior releases (if you had them) for the number of licenses you had for those releases.

If you are not on subscrition, you'll need to manually combine the license files or setup a second license server. Instructions can be found here...

Otherwise, nothing much has changed. You could also setup a second license server and run 2010 off of that but if it also included the old licenses, you'd be legally obligated to shut down the other license server. Also, if both 2010 and older versions were on the same machine, you'd need to configure the system as a distributed server which lists multiple servers so that 2009 can find it's license server and 2010 can find it's license server. It's not too hard but it's an added step that's not required.  Your best bet would be to replace/combine the license files.

If you have questions regarding if your new lidcense file includes the 3 previous releases or contains only 2010 meaning it needs to be combined, post your license file here and we'll let you know. FYI: Because the license file of bound to the MAC address of the network card in your license server, you don't need to worry about someone else using your licenses.
