Windows xp is not playing sound.
Hi,
Last time i reinstalled windows xp on my Intel pc. I could not install the drivers from the original cd provided with my pc because i lost the cd. So i downloaed the graphics driver and sound driver.
Graphics driver is working fine. But sound is stll not working. Desnot shows any problem while installing sound driver.
My pcs configuration is Intel 945 GAV.

No i haven't. I lost the cd so i would not able to go through the normal process.
Just downloaded the Graphics driver and Sound card drivers. Installed both seperately. Graphics is working fine. Only problem with sound card.

Go to device manager, is the sound shown there?

Yes i can see there with yeallow warning mark. Error show "Device cannot be started".

Try to search for the driver name around the net and download the latest driver for XP. Or you can using the Update Driver, this option can be found in Properties.
Then uninstall the driver and install it using the new one you just downloaded. That should fix the issue.
Another option will be to update your XP with the latest updates (SP3)

are you sure abloout this : Intel 945 GAV ? can't find it...

Dont know about mother board. Just downloaded intel chipset indetification utility and when running got the info.

You need to install the chipset drivers -before- the sound driver.
Chipset is in between the sound and the rest of the system.

Where can i find chipset drivers for Intel 945 GV. I can only see griphcis driver, sound driver , lan driver , on intel website.
According to the picture you posted, you have the Intel GZ, not the GV, so the links I posted were for the GZ and are identified in my previous post. The Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility for the GZ is here:

The south bridge of your chipset is an ICH7 or ICH7R chip.
