I am submitting a request to a CA to get a certificate for OWA for Exchange 2007 with SP1.
I need to verify all addresses in the certificate. I have been advised I only need the this correct?
1. The OWA web address
2. FQDN of the mail server
3. Netbios name of the mail server
4. The Autodiscover URL - how do I get this? I ran Test Email AutoConfiguration check and it says the  the below in the log

Autodiscover URL https://MAILSERVER/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml found through SCP
Autodiscover to https://MAILSERVER/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml starting
Autodiscover to https://MAILSERVER/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml succeeded.

Does that mean https://MAILSERVER/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml is the URL for autodiscover or is the URL for Autodiscover something like autodiscover/MAILSERVER ? All online resources seem to suggest different things.

You are right in your requirements. Also, the URL above is the correct URL for Autodiscover.

Well, it really depends on what names you plan on using in your organization. I've heard of your 1-3 items, but not 4, per sè. As long as you have your hostname (which is what your Autodiscover URL is telling your), you'll be fine. If you're getting a SAN Cert, you may want to add a different name for mobile access (ActiveSync) and possibly Outlook Anywhere (formerly RPC over HTTP).  Here is another link for certs (pretty good):

The links Nitin gave are very good and I also recommend them. When you receive your cert, remember to 1. install it on the server you made the request on; 2. when installing the cert, do so using the LOCAL COMP acct, NOT the 'user' account.
