Is it possible to telnet to a radius server and authenticate a user

I have a radius server in which I want to code a software package to telnet to. I can telnet to the server, but I am not familiar with the radius server syntax once in a telnet session. Is this doable? Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks

Unfortunately not.  You will need to use an application like this : http://www.iea-software.com/products/radlogin4.cfm.

Alternatively if you have a web front end to manage the connection php will achieve it for you and you can use the following example: http://www.hotscripts.com/listing/php-radius-authentication/

Ya, I had already found the php solution.  I needed to know if there was a way to talk directly to the radius server on the authentication port and write my own authentication.  I'll keep digging ... thanks for the info.

If you are planning on writting your own solution you will need to refer to the RFC : http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2865.txt

If you require an application to "test" the radius server from windows you can use NTRadPing : http://www.mastersoft-usa.com/download/ but again I don't think this will specifically fit your requirements.
