perl errors

Can someone advice what these errors are in my perl script: (runs on linux)

I've put the error and line that its occuring on

Statement: $process_name =~ s/ +/_/g;
Error: Use of uninitialized value in substitution (s///)

    Hi trance12,

    Statement: $process_name =~ s/ +/_/g;
    Error: Use of uninitialized value in substitution (s///)

    This is complaining that the variable $process_name has not be set to a value (or is undefined).
