Repeating regions, not repeating in Contribute CS4

Hello experts from all over!

I've made a template (.dwt file) in Dreamweaver that i'd like a user to use in Contribute creating new webpages. The template works fine with editable regions, but when i try using repeating regions I receive the following message: "You can't add items to repeating regions because the draft's parent template is missing or not available to users in your role. Please contact <admin/me> for assistance".

I'm connected through local/network (not using FTP)

To rule out problems with the html or css I've tried creating a template with no formatting, just a repeating region containing an editable region. This file created the same problems..

Can anyone help me out?

Hi cindyclaws,

Is the Template (dwt) file uploaded to the remote server?

Hi jason1178,

Thanks for your reply!. Well, because of security issues, the user has to edit and create new pages locally, which means that the "URL" to the website i the on the local machine (file:///C|/website/) and the network path to the website is C:\website\ - the same...

So basically the template files are in the template folder, which is placed inside C:\website\

You would have to contact Adobe for this to be certain but I think you are running into a limitation of Contribute and Templates.  The other option (and a distinct possibility) is that Contribute is buggy with this template feature.

Dreamweaver expects everything to be "local" and when you set up a template, it works on the local site files.  So there is no problem doing this in DW.

Contribute is the opposite.  It connects to the server and downloads a copy of the page for editing.  If a template is present, Contribute can make use of it, but the URL prefix or path is not what Contribute is expecting, you may see issues like this as it reaches out for the file via the URL and fails to see it.

hm... do I understand you correctly - there is nothing I can do to fix the problem, except perhaps uploading the file to a remote server?

Given the setup you describe, I don't think so but you should open a ticket with Adobe to verify.  One way to test is to create a new Contribute connection that can connect to the web server "normally" instead of the way you have it now and see if the template works in that situation. If it does, then you have your answer

If it doesn't work at all then congratulations you've found yet another Contribute bug. Contribute is still buggy as hell after all of these years and Adobe never seems to get around to fixing the product.

Ok, thats too bad! Our security does not allow FTP connections, which then pretty much makes Contribute obsolete...

Thank you jason1178 for your help and prompt replies! :-)
