Virtual Server 2005 R2 on SBS 2003 R1

Is it possible to install Microsoft VS 2005 on SBS 2003 R1 (premium with ISA 2004)?

I want to move Sage MMS to a Server 2003 Virtual Machine, as the physical box it's currently sat on is dying a slow death! This is only a temporary fix however till our client decides to buy a new server for this application.
I don't see an issue doing this, but I've found a few forum posts where people have suggested not installing it on SBS with ISA. Only reason I can think of is because TS sessions from SBS to the VS wouldn't be possible due to ISA, but adding some sort of localhost rule(s) would sort this surely?

I'm basically after a bit of 'clear' confirmation on this as I seem to be finding conflicting info when searching on here and the internet.

Thanks all

    Accepted Solution

I would install VPC instead since the virtual server is a bit more complicated. But, you REALLY SHOULD NOT use this approach, since your sbs installation is running ISA and is thereby already taxed as it is. Push the issue to purchase a new server/ High End PC for Sage.

VS 2005 run via a web GUI, and VPC runs as an application, It will be a bit cleaner with VPC.
