Fedora 8 stop gui and go to command line

I have a virtualized fedora 8 installation. It boots to theGUIi and I do not have a mouse or network connection. I have files that I can install to supposidly correct the situation but I cannot install them because I cannot get to a command line. Tabbing does not help when I get to the GUI after login.

Does anyone know how to get to a command line in the GUI from the keyboard or stop the GUI load while booting up. Or know how to get fedora to install in a usable condition.

you meant Vmware tools ??

normally from GuIl to commadn line we go

ctrl+alt+f1

but I guess you have install in vmware software, so you can try ctrl+alt+f1, but porblem is, you need to click on vmware page first to make it active then have to press ctrl+alt+f1
