This Document failed to print on an HP 4000 printer.

I have a user that keeps getting:

This document failed to print
Document name: HP Laserjet 4000 Series PCL6

The HP 4000 printer is connected via a parallel cable directly to a Dell Precision 390 workstaton.
OS is Windows XP Pro SP3. It appears to occur most often when printing from Laserfiche or when printing Adobe PDF documents.  Does anyone have a possible solution to this problem?  By the way the documents do print even though the message pops up.  When it does pop up the printing is slow.  Thanks for your help in advance.

Most issues I have seen with PDF's printing slow and error messages even though it still printed have been resolved by a combination of either updating the print driver/and or changing the print driver to use a different PCL version or Post Script Version and changing some settings, updating the firmware on the printer, and also updating the Adobe software.

From what you describe I would start at the hp.com Support page and lookup specific information regarding your printer and the error message and go from there.

It sounds like a driver issue from what you describe and what I know from past experience, but that also tells me that it could still be an issue with the program you are printing from, a printer firmware issue, or an advanced printer setting that needs to be changed if you are using a parrellel cable but more detail is required to be certain.
