consultation on developing an applicationfor CD media

I've been asked to develop a drug pronounciation application that's meant to be deployed and distributed through CD media. It's my first time to develop an application for a CD, therefore I'd use some consultation on which technology is best to use in a case like this. Here are the requirements:

the application will simply contain a list of drug names. When you click on a drug name, you will hear its pronounciation (sound file will play). It will also include a dynamic search box.

another thing is, the client is requesting to have a sample of this application on their website. This is why I thought of implementing it as a web application (client-side).

For such an application to be smoothy deployed on a CD, and - at the same time -compatible with website format (just a sample), I'd like your advice on:

1. whether you think this application is best implemented web-based or desktop
2. which technology do you think would best suit this application
3. which db technology do you think I should use? (which is easiest to deploy on a CD)

your help is most appreciated.

I would use an or adobe flash to do this. They would work for both web and desktop.
As for the db I would find out if client already has one in place and what they are using.
If needed to create one from scratch I would recommend access for cd and mssql for web.

    thanks for your feedback CT.

the client has a MS Excel db.. you think I'm gonna need to convert that to MS Access?

btw, about .NET working for both web and desktop.. do you mean, by creating a class that can be common for both applications?

I forgot to mention that the website where the sample is supposed to go is developed with plain asp (not .net). So, in this case would it be possible to integrate a .net component to an asp site?

I would recommend converint the Excel DB to a true DB such as MS Access for CD and Web
Yes, I do mean create a class that can be common for both desktop and web. As for the classic asp to run as far as i know it not possible.
