I'm trying to add a new computer to SBS 2003. I've added the computer via the Server Management add computer SBS wizard. Now on the client within IE6 browser I type http://server_name/ConnectComputer/  but nothing happens, get error 'The page cannot be displayed'.

I can ping the server from the client and ping the client from the server, additionally the client is obtaining its ip address via DHCP.

using \\server_name\  I'm prompted with  a logon box for username and password, so I presume CONNECTCOMPUTER is being blocked by the server.  I've noticed that the client workstations (8)  that have been connected for 12+ months are all static ips rather than DHCP.

Client ipconfig /all :
Windows IP Configuration
        Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : COMPANY-PC7
        Primary Dns Suffix  . . . . . . . :
        Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown

Its now working! I checked IIS (Server Management-->Advanced Management-->Internet Information
Services-->ServerName-->Web Sites) and noticed that Production Central was stopped. As soon as I started it the http://server-name/connectcomputer worked!

I'm now worried that there may be other things in there that need to be running. Current status is:
Description      Identifier      State      Host header value      IP address      Port      SSL Port
Production Central      1      Running            * All Unassigned *      80
Development Central (Stopped)      134835494      Stopped            * All Unassigned *8002
Temporary Live Site (Stopped)      1419518585      Stopped            * All Unassigned 8003
Microsoft SharePoint Administration      2      Running            * All Unassigned 9741
Development Web (Stopped)      2083407965      Stopped            * All Unassigned *      8001
SharePoint Central Administration      3      Running            * All Unassigned *      8081
read only      386479703      Running            * All Unassigned *      8008
Development Test Merge (Stopped)      454571068      Stopped            * All Unassigned *      8004

Additionally I would have expect to see DEFAULT WEB SITE?

Help please!

That is what I was working towards... starting the service.

Default should not be a concern as you are using /connectcomputer. This is standard on most SBS set-ups.
From looking at your list all that should be running appear to be. I would say you are ok.

No worries right now.
