Word 2007 not responding

When I try to launch Word 2007, the document recovery panel comes up.  However, any clicks to attempt to save a recovered doc or just close the panel, result in the application freezing.  Any suggestions or do I just need to reinstall?

Go to the control panel select office 2007 and select uninstall and select the repair option when prompted, this will repair application errors in word and any other bugs/errors.

Thanks for the reply.  I followed your instructions but the problem is still there.  What next?

That sounds like one he'll of a bug, is this a recent problem.. Like since you let's say installed some new software, if that's the case restore windows to before that point, a complete office install may not solve the problem

This is something recent that's happened to my laptop as well. I've been trying to find a solution for the last 2 days, but no luck so far. I initially thought it was related to my anti-virus program (Kaspersky), but the problem was also happening in Safe Mode. I also tried checking my hard disk (BIOS menu for HP laptop and also Windows' Check Disk utility), but also no luck there. I ***really*** hope that there is a solution to this soon, and I hope my comments helps someone narrow down the problem.

    Accepted Solution

    This solved it for me:

Run Regedit (as Administrator) and navigate to the key and delete the following key (Word will automatically re-create it):

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\version number\Word\Data
