datalist counter

I like a counter for a datalist a datagrid no problem but for a datalist
                              I have never tried or see no any information for a datalist. I just want to count rows.

MyDataList.Items.Count()

that should do it for you.

I get an error saying must be assign a value.

 lblRecordCount.Text = CStr(dataSet.Tables(0).Rows.Count)
