opening .msg attachment on Blackberry storm

I have a user with a Motorola Q that sends emails to a Blackberry storm. The emails have attachments (word, excel, .pdf, doesn't matter). When the Q forwards them it forwards the email as the attachment.(instead of the .doc being the attachment it is a .msg) This attachment type is unsupported by Blackberry. Looking for a third party app or a work around to solve this problem.

Is the moto user using using Exchange or Pop based email, is a BES involved?  when I hear or deal about .msg attachments i have usually found that it starts with an aol email account.....it all depends on a few factors too.

A somewhat ugly workaround would be to forward it from your bb to another email account that uses Outlook.  Should open fine with that then if you really want the email on your bb reforward it back to your bb device.  One other suggestion to see if she can send it from the Q in a different format.

there is no BES. she is sending it to an AOL account BUT her emails also do not open on my blackberry storm and i am syncing my outlook account. The moto Q user is active syncing her Outlook.

Per verizon there are no settings on either phone to correct this issue. simply two different email formats.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

I agree with verizon - it is two different email formats.  I don't think if  a messages is sent from the phone themselves and an attachment is added the problem occurs though, I could be wrong...

The other thing to check is how the orginal message was created and what email client they are using.

If they are using outlook see check the accepted solution given by mikehale - experts exchange link below.  (There are also microsoft office updates that prescribe to fix the problem too.)  If they don't use outlook then there will be a setting in Thunderbird, Eudora, Lotus, to change the email format.

I am almost positive you should be able to change the format from the Q side to something else...but I could be wrong.
