When the page loads, Create a dataset, add  datatable to it, add and configure columns and then use that as the datasource. Then in the save button, call the writexml function.

    Dim dSet as new dataset
    dSet.tables.add(New DataTable)
    dSet.Tables(0).colums.add("columnname", gettype(string))
