New Voicemail Line on Windows Mobile 6.1 Today Screen

Hi All,
I've got a brand new Sprint HTC Touch Diamond for my mom.    Because I felt the TouchFlow 3D interface would be much too complicated for her to use, I turned it off and am using the standard Windows Mobile 6.1 Today Screen.   It's a lot simpler to just have the standard Start Menu that doesn't change, and she understands that.    However, when I customize the Today Screen items (I have added Messaging and Calendar), there is no line to add a "New Voicemail" item.    On my old Motorola Q (Running Windows Mobile 5), there's a line that lets me know if there is a New Voicemail, and I can just click on it to have it call voicemail for me.    But I can't find that in the 6.1 Today Screen.    I am aware that there is the "Notifications" soft key, and if you click it, it will pop up a message bubble notifying you of a voicemail.   But I'm afraid that Mom just won't pay attention to that litlte thing in the corner of her screen.   I want it to be a prominent line on her desktop (like the messaging for email, and the calendar for new appointments).   Is there any way to add the voicemail line back in?   Even a 3rd party way?

a) you will have a Missed call icon with a blinking light.
b) you can set it up  that on your Sounds and Notifications for unlimited blinking and vibration. and you can set "Display mesage on screen".

The new WM 6.5 has this option. Its not an answer but it is hope :)

Under my Notifications tab, I found an option to have it display a notification on screen.   But this is only flashes the bubble once for about 10 seconds.    Then it disappears.

There was no option to have unlimited blinking, or to have the notification display on screen permanently until dismissed.    If it is going to just flash for 10 seconds, it would probably do it in my mom's purse when she's away from her phone.   Whenever she goes to look at her phone again, it won't be there, and she won't know she's got a voicemail.

Close, but no cookie.

The reg hack made the voicemail sound keep  playing, but not display voicemail notification bubble.

This would probably just drive my mom crazy, because it'll keep making a noise and she won't know what for.

Worse though, it kept repeating the sound even after I deleted the new voicemail.

So, I had to change it back.

Yeah! That's almost exactly what I'm looking for.  It still displays it as:
VM=1, MC=1
Do you know if the app can be configured to just display voicemail and spell the whole word out?
Like:
1 NEW VOICEMAIL
That would be perfect.

Not sure. Perhaps if you search for the string VM you will find it but I think this is our best bet.

Not exactly the way I wanted it to look.   But it does have the right function.

I found a .CAB file that will add a very obvious Voicemail tag to the Today screen.  Go to

You will need to join the forum, but it is free.  Works like a charm.

bc _chas,

I  tried to install the dcd voicemail plugin.   But when I run it on my phone, it gives me an installation error.   Are you sure this works with an HTC Touch Diamond?
